Class & Section Management
Classes are the functional units of student organization. They group students by their Education Level, Academic Year, and Campus.
Classes Directory
Navigate to Academic > Classes to manage your instructional groups.
Class Attributes
- Identity:
- Name & Code: e.g., "Primary 1 - Gold", "P1-G".
- Section & Stream: Categorize classes within a level (e.g., Section A, Stream Science).
- Physical Environment:
- Room Number: Assign a specific classroom or lab to the group.
- Campus Mapping: Every class is physically tied to a campus.
- Capacity:
- Max Seats: The hard limit for student enrollment in this specific class.
- Availability: The system calculates "Seats Remaining" in real-time based on active enrollments.
Academic Context
Classes are "Context-Aware," meaning they are created for a specific Academic Year.
- A class called "Grade 10A" in 2025 is a different record from "Grade 10A" in 2026.
- This allows the system to track class-specific history and student rosters accurately over time.
Staffing
Homeroom Teachers
Each class can be assigned one or more Homeroom Teachers.
- Primary Teacher: The lead educator responsible for the group's general welfare and daily attendance.
- Support Teachers: Assistant educators or co-teachers.
💡 Pro-Tips & Notes
Use Streams to group students by academic focus (e.g., Art, Science, Commercial) and Sections for simple numerical or alphabetical splits (e.g., 1A, 1B).
If a class reaches its Max Capacity, the system will prevent further students from being enrolled or transferred into that specific section until the capacity is increased or a student is moved out.
Setting the Room Number helps generate campus-wide facility usage reports and assists substitute teachers in finding their assigned groups.
